Buried Hearts
A war has broken out in Sudan. The land of revolutionaries. The land of generosity and kindness. The next three poems are dedicated to you Sudan 🇸🇩
The last time I left Sudan
I buried my heart within its sands
In a spot between the Date palms
One piece beneath the gardens and threw another into the Nile
To come and retrieve one day
To stitch the country back together and nurse all her wounds
For Sudan has many buried hearts and mine is just one amongst them
She is tired
Within her deep eyes
Shadows of past dictatorships and stories of greed
Races for leadership expensive;
blood the price
Land irrigated by the tears she weeps
Oh Sudan our beloved
We prepare
To return one day
For we will return one day
